At Termini you will find a number of private hostels, budget hotels with private rooms and shared or en-suite showers. Budget hotels near Termini often indicated as B&B can be anything from living with a family, a private apartment converted into a Bed and Breakfast or a private hostel that has a couple of single rooms.
In high season (spring and autumn) you will be lucky if you get a cheap room without having booked it in advance. The city can be a bit chaotic when the tourists totally take over the streets and the accommodation scene.
