Holidays in Italy
Italy, above all central and south Italy, already was an important
European cultural center since the Antique, and was part and center of the Roman empire. After the take over of the Gotes however,
Italy became more and more spited and weakened and became playing field of the surrounding powers. Only in the time of the
"Risorgimento" a national agreement could be obtained, particularly by the federations of Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Italy (ital.: Italia)
The First World War won Italy on the entende-side, in the Second World War Italy fought on the
German side and was struck by the allied troops. Apart from the nationwide official
language Italian there are still several regional official languages existent such as German, French, Ladinisch and Slovenian.
Beyond that further minority languages are under special protection (by the condition and a specifying law from the year 1999):
Albanian, Catalan, Greek, Croatian, Franko Provenzalisch, Furlanisch, Okzitanisch and Sardisch. Partly at the respective communities
aim the development of their regional language to the official language.
