Villa Borghese
The Viale del Muro Torto and the Corso D' Italia
separate the Monte Pincio and city centre from the largest public park in Rome,
the Villa Borghese. (www.villaborghese.it). The Villa Borghese was established
at the beginning of the 17th century by cardinal Scipione Caffarelli Borghese,
the nephew of Pope Pauls V.. King Vittorio Emanuele III. bought the park 1902
and donated the Villa Borghese to the city of Rome. Since 1903 the park is
accessible for public visitors at any times. The Villa Borghese has some
roads and a beautiful fountain. When visiting the park have a look at a couple of monuments,
the elliptical Fontana Rotonda, the Galoppatoio and the racecourse. Outside of the Porta del
Popolo lies the main entrance, these unfortunately a noisy place suffering by heavy traffic.
